Abstract

The article presents the role of psychologist in pediatric palliative care team in University
Hospital Motol in Prague, Czech Republic. Palliative medicine is based on team cooperation
of various specialists who work together in order to provide complex supportive and palliative
care to a child and his or her family. The article offers an insight into the role and competencies
of a psychologist and introduces the daily work of a psychologist in a palliative care team
in the hospital setting. Psychological and psychotherapeutic care provided to the sick child,
his parents and also siblings, post consult reflection and multidisciplinary consults with treating
physicians represent the main expertise specific for the psychologist of pediatric palliative care
team in University Hospital Motol.
