Abstract

Social work is a very important part of pediatric palliative care. Social worker takes care not only of the child, but also of the whole family and their social needs. The social worker is there to support the family during the very difficult time. His role is to offer social counseling, provide a mobile hospice and other services which the family will often find difficult to access or would have to find by themselves. The article offers an insight into the role and competencies of the social worker in pediatric palliative care and highlights the need of this profession in the world of healthcare, especially in terms of the target group.
